Marc Labonnette

Baritone

A samling scholar, Marc is born in Orléans (France). Marc Labonnette has won a scholarship to study on the opera course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama having previously completed a Master Degree in music performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Marc has taken part in masterclasses with leading artists including Graham Johnson, Thomas Allen, Malcolm Martineau and François LeRoux. Singing in the festival d’Aix-en Provence he has sung in masterclasses with both Christa Ludwig and Edda Moser and at a masterclass in the Abbey of Royaumont with Ruben Lifschitz.

He performs on the concert platform regularly and his repertoire has included the Fauré Requiem with the Brittany Orchestra and Bach’s St Matthew Passion with Jean-Claude Malgoire, Motets by Henry DuMont, Cité de la Musique in Paris with “L’Ensemble Pierre Robert” and a concert a the Wigmore Hall with the Samling Foundation. His operatic repertoire includes Bottom, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream,BYO at the QEH, the title role in Le Nozze di Figaro, RSAMD, the title role in Andre Campra’s Idoménée with Jean-Claude Malgoire, Bottom, Falstaff G.Verdi’s opera, Golaud, Pelléas and Mélissande, RSAMD, Basilio, Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Paisiello, Bampton Classical Opera, Capulet, Roméo et Juliette, BYO’S summer production, Peacock Theater and Un Berger/ Le Médecin Pelléas et Mélisande RSNO’s production. Future plans includes Don Alfonso with the Classical Opera Company, Cadmus in Sémélé Marin Marais in Beaune’s Festival, Montpellier and Théatre des Champs-Elysées in France, the tile-role in Offenbach’s “Mr Choufleuri restera chez lui le…” in Venelles Festival, Pantalonethe Jewel-Box with the Bampton Classical Opera and Leporello in the forthcoming Samling Foundation production’s of Don Giovanni in Newcastle.
