Adrian Dwyer

Tenor

Born 1977 in Melbourne, Adrian Dwyer’s musical education began at an early age, attending the folk music concerts in which his father played and sang, and as a tuba player in the Box Hill City Brass Band. He distinguished himself whilst studying at the Australian National Academy of Music as a laureate of all major Australian singing competitions. Having recently graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Postgraduate Opera Course, he is currently studying at the National Opera Studio.

Although he made his professional debut in Australia as Borsa Rigoletto (Spray Farm Festival), it was performances at the GSMD as Vaudemont Iolanta, Ferrando Cosi fan tutte, and Mister Owen Postcard from Morocco that led to his being hailed as “A remarkable talent” (Opera Magazine).

He subsequently made his continental in debut May 2002 as Benedict Beatrice et Benedict at l’Opera Comique, Paris, a performance guided by the mentorship of Mme Regine Crespin. He will return next year to sing Francesco Benvenuto Cellini for Orchestre de Paris’ 2003 Berlioz cycle. Other operatic appearances have included Don Ottavio Don Giovanni with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for Opera Holland Park.

On the concert platform he has sung with The Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestre Léonard da Vinci/Opera de Rouen, the State Orchestra of Victoria, London Philharmonia Chorus, and English Festival Orchestra (RAH/Willcocks), in works ranging all the way from Mozart Requiem and Rossini Stabat Mater through to Verdi Requiem and Mahler das Lied von der Erde.

Current and future engagements include an opera gala for HRH Prince Charles with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra under the baton of Sir Richard Bonynge, and Handel Messiah conducted by Sir David Willcocks.
