Freston
Born
in London, Amy trained as a classical dancer before going to the
RNCM where she studied with Sandra Dugdale. She is currently at
the National Opera Studio (2003/4) sponsored by Glyndebourne.
Recent engagements include
Bridesmaid/Le Nozze di Figaro (Glyndebourne Festival Opera);
the title role in Acis and Galatea (New Kent Opera); Suor
Genoveva/Suor Angelica (Opera Holland Park); soprano soloist
The Golden Ass (Globe Theatre). Operatic roles whilst at
college include Asteria/Tamerlano and Nannetta/Falstaff.
She is also winner of this year¹s prestigious Joahninha Trust
Award. Recent concert performances include Bach’s Cantatas
Nos 202, 84 and 199 and a Harrison Birtwistle song cycle (Plush
Festival 2002 & 2003 broadcast on Radio 3); Carmina Burana
(CBSO at the Birmingham Symphony Hall); Handel’s Samson
(Manchester Camerata). Future engagements include soprano soloist
in a new music theatre piece by Sir Harrison Birtwistle (Aldeburgh
and Almeida Contemporary Music Festivals); Il re pastore
(New Kent Opera); Mozart C Minor Mass, Handel’s Dixit
Dominus and Messiah and Vivaldi's cantata Nulla in mundo
pax sincera (Manchester Camerata). Amy is generously supported
by the Countess of Munster Music Trust and the Peter Moores Foundation.
