Ed
Lyon - Tenor Ed
Lyon was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge, from which he
graduated with a BA in History of Art in 2001. He is now in his
final year at Royal Academy Opera.
Ed
made his oratorio debut at Snape Maltings when he sang the Evangelist
in Telemann's St. Matthew Passion, and returned to perform Britten's
Cantata Misericordium and Acis in Handel's Acis and Galatea. He
has since performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, Birmingham Symphony
Hall, St John's Smith Square and the Albert Hall, under conductors
including Sir David Willcocks, Sir Roger Norrington and Sir Charles
Mackerras.
Operatic
roles include Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw, the title role
in Albert Herring, the Schoolmaster in Janacek's The Cunning Little
Vixen, Ecclitico in Haydn's Il Mondo della Luna and the Male Chorus
i n
The Rape of Lucretia.
Future
performances include Hylas in Handel's Hercules for the London Handel
Orchestra, Elijah in Gloucester Cathedral and the role of Kornelis
in Saint-Saens one act opera La Princesse Jaune at the R.A.M.
