Gudrún Ólafsdóttir



Gudrún J. Ólafsdóttir studied at The Reykjavík College of Music with Ruth Magnússon and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Laura Sarti.  Gudrún’s operatic engagements include Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia for Opera à la Carte in Ireland and at the Linbury Studio Theatre Covent Garden, and Arbace in Arne’s Artaxerxes with the Classical Opera Company at St John’s Smith Square. At the Guildhall she performed Lazuli in Chabrier’s L’étoile, Joacim in Handel’s Susanna and Magdelone in Nielsen’s Maskarade. She sang Prince Orlowsky in Die Fledermaus at the Icelandic Opera. Gudrún has performed in recitals and oratorios in Iceland, England, Scotland, Luxembourg and the Faroe Islands. She has recorded with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and performed live on Radio 3 for the BBC Proms. She is a recipient of The Miriam Licette Scholarship, the Schubert Lieder Prize, A Madeline Finden Memorial Trust Award and the Kathleen Ferrier Song Prize.
