Durán - Tenor
Jonas
Durán was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. He received
his musical education at the University College of Opera in Gothenburg
and the RCM Benjamin Britten International Opera School. His coach
and mentor is the tenor Berle Sanford Rosenberg, who himself was
a student of Carlo Bergonzi.
In
spring 2000, Jonas Durán made his operatic debut in the title
role of La Clemenza di Tito for Gothenburg Opera School. Other roles
include Snouth in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Rinuccio in Puccinis
Gianni Schicchi, Lensky from Eugene Onegin, Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte
and Alfred in Die Fledermaus.
On
the concert, oratorio and recital platform, Jonas has performed
in Germany, Spain, Italy and Sweden. The Stockholm Wind Symphony
Orchestra appointed the season 2003/2004 Jonas Durán ‘soloist
of the year’.
Jonas
Durán has participated in many competitions. Recently he
won first prize in the Jyväskylä International Singing
Competition for Tenors in Finland.
