Kris Belligh



Kris Belligh was born in Oostende, Belgium, where he attended the conservatoire from an early age. He continued his musical studies in Brussels, before moving to London in 1995 to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He also took part in masterclasses with Dame Felicity Lott, Sir Thomas Allen, Elly Ameling, Graham Johnson and Emma Kirkby.


In 1999 he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Pacific Music Festival in Japan, where he performed under Nicholas McGeegan and Michael Tilson Thomas.


Concert engagements have included the Bach Passions and B Minor Mass in Stuttgart and Munich, Mozart Requiem at St Eustache in Paris, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle, Haydn’s Creation, Handel’s Messiah, Winterreise and motets by Monteverdi and Rameau with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie.


His operatic roles include Figaro The Marriage of Figaro (Brownsea Summer Festival), Mercurio La Calisto (RSAMD), Ramiro L’heure Espagnole (RSAMD), Papageno The Magic Flute (Belgium), Masetto Don Giovanni (Arts Theatre, Cambridge), Aeneas Dido and Aeneas, Marco Gianni Schicchi (RSAMD) and Thésée Hippolyte et Aricie for Pacific Music Festival in Japan.


Kris recently obtained a degree in opera from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
