Mathias
Hausmann Mathias
Hausmann started his vocal training with Karl Ernst Hoffmann in
Graz, Austria. From 1995-1998 he was a student in the lieder
and oratoria-class of Walter Berry at the University of Music, Vienna.
He is presently a student on the London Royal Schools Opera Course
at the Royal College of Music. He receives singing lessons from
Ryland Davies.
Mathias
performs regularly in concert and has appeared in many international
festivals. He has performed in the London Handel Festival, Klangbogen
(Vienna), Fruehjahrsfest des Wiener Musikvereins and
Styriarte (Graz). He made his opera debut in summer 2000 as
the Sultan in Haydn’s L’incontro improvviso
at the Haydn Festival in Austria and at the EXOP in Hannover, conducted
by Adam Fischer. He followed this with performances of Bizet’s
Le Docteur Miracle and Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino
for London Royal Schools Opera and Handel’s Flavio
for the London Handel Festival.
In
1998 he won the first prize in the International Lieder
Competition Guarda l’Europa in Florence, Italy.
