Sophie
Graf - Soprano
After
qualifying as a harpist and as a lawyer in Geneva, Sophie Graf,
born in Switzerland to swiss parents, studied for two years as a
postgraduate at the famous Guildhall School of Music and Drama in
London supported by the Ernst Goehner and the Pro Arte Foundations.
She studied the Opera course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music
and Drama in Glasgow where she obtained a master in opera with distinction
in 2001 supported by the Migros Ernst Goener, The Leenards Foundations,
The Tillet Trust, The Texaco Award and the City of Geneva.
She
won several prizes as the Jaccard-Villard Prize, the David Kelly
Prize for her oratorio piece at the Mozart competition, the prize
for the interpretation of french opera at the Saint-Anges competition
in Paris and the Margaret Dick Prize in Scotland. She recently won
the lieder prize in the Royal Scottish Academy competition. She
had a finalist prize in the internationale competition in Verviers/Belgium
and was finalist of promotion lyrique in Paris.
Sophie
appeared frequently in concerts in Geneva, London and France. She
participates also in the Kurt Weill and Francis Poulenc Festival
at the Guildhall School in London and has participated at the Festival
of the Moulin d’Ande, at the “Escales Musicales”
in Evian, at the Emperi Festival in Salon de Provence, at the “Sommets
Musicaux” in Gstaadt in February 2003.
She sang Sophie in Werther’s opera in Tours, the title role
of Manon from Massenet in Glasgow, Sylvabelle in Auberge du Cheval
Blanc, Princesse Fleurette. In Avignon, she sang recently the role
of Barbarina in Noce de Figaro in Avignon and Toulon.
She sang in Paris in November 2003 the Stabat Mater of Pergolese
and the Laudate Pueri of Vivaldi with Jean-Claude Malgoire.
She
will be Naiade in Ariadne auf Naxos in March. In April she will
sing the Messa in C/Mozart with Pau Orchestra on tour and in June
she will do the feminine role in the composition of Thierry Besancon
"la Landwehr", in Fribourg/Switzerland.
In
2005, she will be Zerlina in Don Giovanni in Nantes and Angers.
In
Swizerland,in September, she will sing in st Saphorin in the Grappe
et Vin Festival and she will be Cunegonde (Candide/Bernstein) in
Switzerland.
