Allison Cook - Mezzo Soprano

Scottish born Allison Cook, graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 1998 with a BA Music and M Mus. Opera, during which time she won several competitions including the Mary Garden Singing Competition and the RSAMD Opera Award. Subsequent prizes have also included the Prix Lyrique L'AROP 2000 and in 2001 she was a finalist in The Kathleen Ferrier Award.

After graduating, Allison joined Les Jeunes Voix du Rhin, Opéra National du Rhin, where her roles included Volpino in Haydn's Lo Speziale, The Mezzo in Maxwell Davies's The No. 11 Bus, Soeur Mathilde in Les Dialogues des Carmelites at the Savolinna Festival and at the BBC Proms and Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos. The following season at Opera National de Paris, Allison understudied the roles of Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro, Varvara Katya Kabanova and the title role in Philippe Fenelon's Salammbo. Subsequent roles there have included Knappe and Blumen Madchen in Parsifal and Garcias and the understudy of Dulcinée in Massenet's Don Quichotte. In 2000, Allison made her debut at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Vienna Festwochen with Mark Minkowski, performing Valletto and Fortuna in L'Incoronazione di Poppea. This Summer, Allison returned to Aix-en-Provence, where she performed La Femme, La Fille, La Voleuse and Chantal in the world Premier of Peter Eötvos's Le Balcon, as well as making her debuts in Montpellier and Metz.

Allison appears regularly on the Oratorio and Concert Platform throughout Europe, notably with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, The Orchestra of St. John's Smith Square and also in recital at Covent Garden, London and at the Louvre in Paris.

Future engagements include Annina La Traviata at the Opera National de Paris, her debut performances in Amsterdam and Toulouse in Le Balcon, Stanford's Te Deum at York Minster Cathedral and a recital in Paris.
