Andrew Foster-Williams studied at the Royal Academy of Music where he has since been made an Associate. He was also recently named by Rupert Christiansen in The Daily Telegraph as his Newcomer of the Year: "Andrew Foster-Williams is an impressively intelligent artist who sang both Leporello in Don Giovanni and Alidoro in La Cenerentola  with impressive vocal polish. We should be hearing more of him".

Andrew established three important opera relationships early in his career appearing as Leporello Don Giovanni, Colline La Boheme, Angelotti Tosca, Voice of Neptune Idomeneo, and in a dramatised version of Schubert`s Winterreise for Opera North; Alidoro La Cenerentola, Don Fernando Fidelio, Voice of Neptune Idomeneo and Sprecher Die Zauberflöte for Glyndebourne; and Garibaldo Rodelinda, Melisso Alcina and Argante Rinaldo at the Göttingen Handel Festival. In addition recent engagements include A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Harry Bicket at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Borée Les Boréades with Emmanuelle Haïm at the Opera National du Rhin and Cold Genius, Aeolus and Comus in a new Mark Morris production of Purcell’s King Arthur for English National Opera and in San Francisco.

On the concert platform Andrew has sung Christus St Matthew Passion with Sir Roger Norrington and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment with whom he has also appeared in Haydn’s Seven Last Words with Daniel Harding, St John’s Passion with Robert Spano and Atlanta Symphony, Haydn's Creation with the Hallé Orchestra and Mark Elder, Handel's L’Allegro with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants in a Prom and European tour, St Matthew Passion with English Concert and Trevor Pinnock, St John Passion with the Academy of Ancient Music and Stephen Layton at St John’s Smith Square and on a European tour conducted by Paul Goodwin and Charpentier's David et Jonathas with the OAE and Emmanuelle Haïm with whom he has also toured with Concert d’Astrée singing Mozart C Minor Mass. 

He regularly appears at the Mostly Mozart Festival in London and made his debut at the New York Mostly Mozart Festival in 2005 in Handel's L' Allegro with Nicholas McGegan Other recent concert appearances have included Bach Christmas Oratorio with the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and Christopher Hogwood, Messiah with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under McGegan, Mozart Requiem for Columbus Symphony Orchestra with Vladimir Spivakov, Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 in Milwaukee with Andreas Delfs and also with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco.

Current and future plans include Handel's Solomon with NDR Hamburg and Marcus Creed; Handel’s Acis and Galatea with The King’s Consort in Paris; Pergolesi’s La Serva Pedrona with the Gabrieli Consort and Paul McCreesh; Arias Matthew Passion with Netherlands Bach Society and Richard Egarr; Nick Shadow The Rake’s Progress with Basel Chamber Orchestra; Plutone Orfeo for Opera North, Il Conte Le Nozze di Figaro at the Beaune Festival with Jérémie Rhorer; Publio La Clemenza di Tito for ENO and his debuts with Washington National Opera as Leone Tamerlano and with Welsh National Opera singing Alidoro in a new production conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

Recordings include Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle and Vivaldi's La Senna festeggiante with Robert King and The King's Consort (Hyperion), Campra’s Grands Motets with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants (Virgin Veritas) and Ormonte in Handel’s Partenope with Christian Curnyn and the Early Opera Company (Chandos).
