Anna Grevelius – mezzo-soprano
The Swedish mezzo-soprano Anna Grevelius studied singing with her mother, Kerstin Lundin-Grevelius, before taking on a BMus degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she was taught by Laura Sarti and was awarded the Lord Mayor’s Prize for outstanding studies.
This year Anna graduated from the Advanced Opera Course at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, studying with Lillian Watson, as a Sir Thomas Allen Scholar. She is currently a student at the National Opera Studio, London. Her recent operatic roles include Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Classical Opera Company), Prince Orlovsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (RCM), Lucretia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia (RCM) and Onoria in Handel’s Ezio (as part of the London Handel Festival).
In 2004 she was a member of the Académie européenne de musique at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and this summer she returned to the festival to sing the Second Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. During her training Anna has taken part in masterclasses with singers such as Ann-Sofie von Otter, Sir Thomas Allen and Sarah Connolly. She has won the prestigious Gerald Moore Competition, and the RCM Lies Askonas Prize.
Anna enjoys chamber music and concert work and has performed in recital together with Roger Vignoles and sung the alto part in Bruckner’s Te Deum conducted by Bernard Haitink. Future plans involve a recording of Schumann and Wolf songs with Roger Vignoles.
