Anna Stéphany
Anna Stéphany, mezzo-soprano, is currently at the National Opera Studio and studies with Susan McCulloch. She completed the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) in June.
Operatic roles include Smeraldina/The Little Green Swallow by Jonathan Dove, Concepçion/L’Heure espagnole, the title role in Mignon by A Thomas and Marcellina/ The Marriage of Figaro all at the Guildhall and Juno/Semele for British Youth Opera at the QEH in September ’04. Anna sang with the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus in 2002 and 2003.
Oratorio work includes Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall under David Willcocks and Angel/The Dream of Gerontius in Exeter Cathedral with Adrian Thompson and Michael George in May 04.
Anna is the recipient of many awards including the Clonter Opera Prize 2005 and the Joaninha Trust Award. Most recently she was the winner of the 50 th Anniversary Kathleen Ferrier Competition 2005 and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Gold Medal, accompanied by pianist Jonathan Beatty.
