Benjamin Segal - Tenor
Benjamin Segal has recently completed a season as a member of The Glyndebourne Festival Chorus and has since taken up a place at The National Opera Studio. He has already participated in many summer festivals including the Britten Pears School, Académie de Musical VilleCroze, Salzburg ’s Mozarteum and most recently as a Samling Foundation Scholar at The Sage Gateshead.
Operatic Roles include his Glyndebourne Festival debut as Monostatos/Die Zauberflöte;The Husband/Les Mamelles De Tirésias; Laërte/Mignon (GSMD); School Master/Comedy on the Bridge; Snout/A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Oloferno Vitellozzo/ Lucrezia Borgia (Chelsea Opera Group). He has also performed Ferrando/Così fan tutte; Tom Rakewell/The Rake’s Progress; Nemorino/L’Elisir D’Amore; Pang/Turandot; Oronte/Alcina; Lensky/Yevgeny Onyegin; Pedrillo/Die Entführung aus dem Serail as opera scenes.
Oratorio performances include: Evangelist in St John Passion, Missa Solemnis, Creation, Coronation Mass and C Minor Mass (Mozart); Petite Messe Solennelle (Rossini); Requiem (Mozart); Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cécile (Gounod); Stabat Mater (Dvorák); Nelson Mass, Messiah (Händel).
Benjamin has given recitals throughout the UK and abroad including performances at Wigmore Hall, Royal Opera House Crush Room, St John’s Smith Square, St James Piccadilly and Grosvernor chapel as part of the Mayfair Concert Programme.
Future plans include Bogdanowitsch in The Merry Widow with Holland Park and the role of Alfred in Die Fledemaus for Scottish Opera; a recording and performance of Edward German’s Merrie England and a recital of song and arias in the Cadogan Hall Sloane Square.
