Elizabeth Key - Mezzo Soprano

Elizabeth Key, from Nottingham, is on the Master’s Opera course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, under the tuition of Kathleen McKellar Ferguson.

Elizabeth’s early experience was gained with the internationally renowned Cantamus Girls’ Choir, where she received tuition from the director Pamela Cook MBE. With the choir Elizabeth has performed throughout Europe and Asia.

Elizabeth has sung oratorio all over the UK, including works by Bruckner, Handel, Mozart and Rossini and has taken part in masterclasses with Malcolm Martineau, Roderick Williams and Ann Murray.

Elizabeth has sung in the chorus in productions of The Rake’s Progress, Manon, Idomeneo and Marriage of Figaro. In scenes she has sung Lucretia The Rape of Lucretia, Marcellina Marriage of Figaro, Philipyevna Onegin, Dorabella Cosi fan Tutte, Meg Page, Falstaff, Ottavia L’incoronazione di Poppea and Charlotte Werther. Roles include Mrs Noye Noye’s Fludde, Mistress Quickly Falstaff (…‘a real mezzo with a fine low range’ … Opera April 2005) Genevieve Pelleas et Melisande and Gertrude Romeo et Juliette.
