Brief
Samling History: I participated in a master class with
Sir Tom Allen and Ileana Cotrubas at Lake Ullswater in April 2002.
I felt extremely privileged for being able to work especially with
Cotrubas on the role of Massenet’s Manon , which I was to
perform two months later. The public master class in Penrith was
a fantastic opportunity to show the sponsors what we had been doing,
and, by being heard there, I was offered my first real proper professional
engagement!!
Experience:
Apart from having the luxurious sensation of living like Royalty,
it was absolutely amazing to meet these two stars, these exquisite
musicians and human beings, to work with them and learn from observing
their work with others. Ileana gave much support, great inspiration
and lots of good advice, and I came home from that master class
with a “gem” in my soul, an imprint, an experience I
will carry with me always.
Past
achievements: Henriikka began her initial musical training
at the Adolf Fredrik’s School of Music in Stockholm. Following
university studies in languages and musicology, she pursued her
vocal studies at the GSMD in London, later graduating from the BMus
with 1st Class Honours. After a year on the MMus programme, she
began her operatic studies at the Alexander Gibson Opera School
at the RSAMD, under Patricia MacMahon. While at the RSAMD, Henriikka
sang the roles of Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and the
title role in Massenet’s Manon , Princesse in Ravel's L'enfant
et les Sortileges, Ilia in Mozart's Idomeneo under Timothy Dean,
and the title role of Handel's Alcina under Christian Curnyun. She
also "shadowed" Gluck's Euridice at Scottish opera. Directly
after graduationg (with Distinction) from the opera course, she
sang Pamina for BYO under Noel Davies at the Queen Elizabeth Hall
in London. Competitions won recently include the Norma Grieg Song
competition, the Margaret Dick comp, and the prestigious Bruce Millar
Opera Prize (2003). She also won 2nd prize in the Ye Cronies Opera
competition 2002 and the David Knox memorial Award. Henriikka has
recieved substantial awards from Sybil Tutton (MBF), Chevron Texaco
and Barcapel Foundation, and the highest award for singers from
the Royal Swedish Academy of Music 2003. A sought after recitalist
and soloist both in the UK and Europe, Henriikka’s repertoire
includes the Requiems of Brahms, Faure and Mozart, Mozart's C minor
Mass, Beethoven’s Mass in C minor, Rossini’s Stabat
Mater, Handel’s Solomon, Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb and
Pergolesi's Salve Regina and more, as well as Nordic, European and
American Art song. She recently performed the Berio Folksongs with

forthcoming collaborations with them. She has had the pleasure of
working in master classes with Sir Thomas Allen, Sarah Walker, Elly
Ameling, Graham Johnson, Malcolm Martineau, Philip Langridge, Håkan
Hagegård and Emanuele Moris, amongst others, and has had the
great pleasure of working through both Massenet’s Manon and
