
Njabulo Thabiso Madlala - Baritone
Njabulo Thabiso Madlala is a South African baritone studying at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He is on the B.Mus. Course studying with Rudolph Piernay and The Peter Moores Foundation funds his studies. In London he has performed with The Opera Holland Park Company in La fancuilla Del West singing the role of Bello conducted by John Gibbons. He sang Morales in Carmen produced by The Broomhill Opera at Wiltons Music Hall under the musical director Charles Hazlewood and artistic director Mark Donford-May. He played the role of the Disciple and an Angel in the Mysteries filmed by the BBC. Njabulo has sung on concert platforms around the world including the USA where he performed at David’s United Church of Christ.
Before coming to London and to GSMD he performed mainly South African traditional folk songs in South Africa. Later he joined The Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus under the leadership of the British born conductor Dr David Tibold. There he performed works like, The Hymn of Praise, Messiah, The Creation, Masakhane, UShaka, Great Choruses, South African Artists United against Aids, The Student Prince, Magic Flute, Carmina Burana and many other chorus works with famous singers including Simon Estes,
Roberta Alexander and Dennia Mazzola.
He also performed solo with the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra during the Young Concerto Festival. Soon after this was part of The Spier Festival Arts.
