Rowan Hellier - Mezzo Soprano

Mezzo Soprano Rowan Hellier was born and brought up in Perthshire, Scotland. She studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she obtained a First Class Honours Bachelor of Music
Degree. Now at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where last year she was awarded a Masters of Music with Distinction, she is studying under the tutelage of Rudolf Piernay. Comfortable both on the oratorio and operatic stage, roles include 'The Daughter' Vanishing Bridegroom (Judith Weir), Athenaeum Theatre and 'Mercedes' Carmen for Haddo House Opera.

She has performed at venues such as the Edinburgh International Festival, the Oxford Lieder Festival and Cadogan Hall, London, and is fortunate to have collaborated with inspiring conductors and musicians such as Stephen Cleobury, Graham Johnson, Eugene Asti, Ian Burnside and Sarah Walker. Rowan is gratefully supported by the Musicians Benevolent Fund, The Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarship, The Ogden Trust, the Vintner's Guild and The Kathleen Trust. She is looking forward to joining Glyndebourne Chorus for the
coming season and to continuing her studies at GSMD, where she commences the Opera course this September.
