Lyric Soprano Yvette Bonner’s career has already taken her to many major opera houses and festivals in Europe and the United States. She is admired for her warm bright voice and fine qualities as a communicator of honesty and conviction. A trained dancer, she has distinguished herself in productions requiring a particularly physical interpretation.

Yvette Bonner studied at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 1998 with the Dip. RAM, the Academy’s highest award for performance and the Blyth–Buesst Operatic Prize. She was the winner of the Emmy Destinn Award for Young Singers 2000 for Czech opera and song.

She made her début with The Royal Opera, Covent Garden as Hermione in Strauss’ Die Aegyptische Helena under the baton of Christian Thielemann, followed by EsmeraldaThe Bartered Bride under Bernard Haitink, a role that she repeated in 2001 under Sir Charles Mackerras and recorded for Chandos Records in 2005.

Yvette Bonner received outstanding critical acclaim for her Wigmore Hall début, singing Britten’s Les Illuminations with The Academy of St Martin–in–the–Fields. She has also performed Carmina Burana in Symphony Hall, Birmingham , Bach Magnificat and Vivaldi Gloria for The English Chamber Orchestra, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater, for Scottish Opera Orchestra and Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and most recently Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen with Michael Collins for the OSJ at St John’s , Smith Square . She is a regular soloist at the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Proms.

Her recordings include Strauss Die Liebe der Danae under Elgar Howarth, Albert Herring under Richard Hickox and The Marriage of Figaro under David Parry.

Engagements in 2005/6 include a return to the Royal Opera with EsmeraldaThe Bartered Bride, the role of Sarah in the world premiere of Michel van der Aa’s After Life for Netherlands Opera and St Matthew Passion, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Live on Radio 3. In 2006/7 Yvette will make her debut for Rome Opera as Sophie in Werther.
