Katherine
Manley - Soprano
Born in 1979 and educated in Leicester Katherine is currently in her first
year at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School RCM, studying with
Lillian Watson.
Katherine is a Samling Foundation Scholar and is supported by the
Leicestershire Awards & Grants Service, a Wingate scholarship, an MBF award,
and was a 2003 prize winner of the Madeline Finden Memorial Trust.
Her operatic experience include performances of Don Giovanni, La Rondine,
Carmen, roles include staged scenes as Fox- The Cunning Little Vixen,
Armida- Rinaldo, Despina- Cosi fan Tutti. Katherine has performed with Opera
Holland Park productions and most recently the role's of Emmie in Britten's
Albert Herring - New Kent Opera, Elmira, in a performance of Handel's
Sosarme -BBIOS and Cuzzoni in the Handel and Hendrix project 'Time Flows'
with Streetwise Opera.
As a soloist, she has worked with The London Mozart Players, The London Pro
Arte Orchestra the Brandenburg Sinfonia and the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Concert performances include Haydn's Creation under the direction of Stephen
Cleobury at the Royal Albert Hall, Bach's St Matthew Passion, Haydn's Nelson
Mass, Salve Regina ( St John's Smith Square ), St Cecilia (St Giles
Cripplegate Barbican). Mozart's Requiem, Coronation Mass
(St-Martin-In-The-Fields). Handel's Messiah, Weill's Die Dreigroschenoper,
Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Rachmaninoff's Vocalise and performances of
Britten's Les Illuminations. Katherine has given a recent live broadcast for
the BBC Radio 3 station, In Tune.
Future engagements include the role of Belinda in Dido and Aeneas,
Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, and a performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah with Sir
Thomas Allen.
