Farrington
Paul Farrington studied Voice and Piano at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Since Graduating in 1982 he has had a wide and varied career as a singer, choral conductor, musical director and is now heavily in demand as a Freelance Vocal Consultant. He is widely recognised as one of the foremost 'vocal trouble-shooters' in the business, and with over 15 years experience, he is one of only two NHS Clinical Vocal Consultants in the UK.
Paul has worked with some of the world's leading Opera and Concert singers, among them, Dame Margaret Price, Dame Felicity Lott, Barbara Bonney, Della Jones, Magdalena Kozcena and Christopher Maltman. He regularly coaches Principal Artist's for all of the National Opera Companies, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Glyndebourne Festival.
Paul has given workshops with the casts of West End shows, including, amongst others, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera, and for 5 years taught on the Music Theatre course at the Royal Academy of Music.
Paul has assisted Jo Estill in teaching courses in the UK, USA and Netherlands and was among the first people in the world to be licensed by her to teach her work, and is in demand throughout Europe to lead courses in all aspects of Vocal Technique.
During the last two years, Paul has given a number of successful masterclasses on Spanish Television's version of Fame Academy, 'Operacion Triunfo' and is currently vocal coach to 'X' Factor finalists 'G4.'
In April 2005 Paul was invited by world renowned Voice Scientist Johann Sundberg to present his work in a series of masterclasses and workshops in Sweden, and in July 2005 he was a guest speaker at the International College of Otolaryngologists in Rome.
He is currently Vocal Consultant with the Royal Swedish Opera, and his engagements in 2005 took him to Barcelona, Gothenburg, Ravenna, Bologna, Verona, Reykjavik, Stockholm, Amsterdam, New York, Berlin, Milan, Lisbon, Copenhagen and Paris.
Paul is proud to be the Honorary President of ToSini-Teachers of Singing in Northern Ireland, and has just been appointed Professor Emeritus to the Operahogskolan in Stockholm. In January 2006 he will take up the Vocal Directorship of Opera New Zealand's Summer School for Emerging Artists. He has been part of The Samling Foundation's Masterclass programme for outstanding young singers for eight years.
